Speed, velocity, and acceleration are all apart of motion but how do they connect with football.

In the back field on offense there is a running back. Their positioning allows them more room. So they have more room to accelerate and are able to gain momentum so they can hit anyone who comes in their path.It is the same with linebackers. They have more room to move and accelerate and then be able to destroy the ball carrier. In football you want speed and velocity. You want speed and velocity because if you are able to get past the defensive backs you want to make sure that they don't catch up with you and pull you down a few yards away from the touchdown. Also, velocity is used to make cuts and juke out the defensive players. Next, if a running back can accelerate to his top speed faster than a defensive player then you will be able to beat him and be more successful in your running game.
